MAJOR DUTIES:
• Install, perform start-up/commissioning, maintain, troubleshoot, document and repair a wide variety of industrial
instrumentation, electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in the production of
goods and services.
• Program and troubleshoot Programmable Logical Controllers and HMI software.
• Provide input to equipment selection and design. Install, setup, and monitor local area network (LAN) and
wireless local area networks (WLAN). Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training
tasks to ensure LAN/WLAN performance meets company and user requirements.
• Under general direction, provides technical support, training, and direction to departmental staff using computer
equipment and applications on a wide area network (WAN) or large local area network (LAN); installs, tests, and
resolves problems with computer hardware and software; adapts existing software to accommodate the database
needs of departments; develops and maintains Intranet Web sites, and performs related duties as required.
• Install and maintain IP based cameras and servers.
• Able to travel and work at all of Thiele Kaolin Company locations.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two- or four-year degree from an accredited school or technical college, or five years’ experience in the electrical
maintenance field.
• Install and maintain Windows Operating Systems on Workstation Computers and Servers for Process
Applications, Network (Ethernet & Proprietary), network switches, fiber optic cabling, copper-based network
cabling, wireless radio bridges, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Security Cameras.
• Calibrate and/or Program Process Instrumentation.
• Assist with startups on new or renovated Process Systems.
• Make program modifications in PLC’s and HMI’s as needed.
• Assist Maintenance personnel as needed, to include training on new processes.
• Work nights, weekends and call backs as the situations arise.
• Good driving record, attendance and safety record.
• Well-motivated with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to attend any training that may be required to learn
• the necessary job skills.
• Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
• Ability to work well with others and to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions.
• Ability to organize and work independently or with a minimal amount of supervision.
• Satisfactory mathematical ability, communication skills, and background.
• Ability to communicate well through written and verbal reporting.
• Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
