In March 2024, GMF will award a four-year scholarship, which will pay $1,000 per year for four years. The
scholarship awarded for the year 2023 will be given in honor and recognition of a person whose dedication
and commitment to the mining industry is virtually unsurpassed: Jason Maxwell.
The Endowment for Education Program was created to raise funds for grants and scholarships; however, to
be differentiated from the GMF Scholarship Program that provides scholarships to graduating high school
seniors, the Endowment scholarships are intended for a four-year course study at the undergraduate level
and for graduate students who are pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. degree. The Endowment Program will serve
to “nurture a student into the mining industry” by enhancing the student’s education not only with financial
assistance, but also with direct contact with the Georgia Mining Association and it’s members throughout the
student’s entire education. High school seniors attending schools in Georgia are eligible to apply.
Deadline for the Completed Application Packet (Physical Copies of the following: Application, Letter of Recommendation, Essay Questions, and Transcript) must be POSTMARKED No Later than March 1, 2024.
The application and essay information is available below. Please print
this information and return your completed application to the Georgia
Mining Foundation office at 113 Arkwright Landing, Macon, GA 31210.
